Who We Are
Lawrence Brown
Dr. Brown is a graduate of the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute (BPSI) in both Child and Adult psychoanalysis and is a supervising child analyst there. He is also on the faculty of BPSI and the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis. He is on the Editorial Board of the Psychoanalytic Quarterly and is founding member of the Boston Group for Psychoanalytic Studies. He was Co-Chair of the Bion in Boston International Conference held in 2009 and also co-chaired the Bion in Marrakech meeting in 2013. His book, Intersubjective Processes and the Unconscious: An Integration of Freudian, Kleinian and Bionian Perspectives, was published in 2011 and he also co-edited two other recent books He has another book in progress, Contemporary Psychoanalysis: The Theory and Technique of Transformations to be published by IPA Publications and Karnac. He is the author of many papers dealing with such topics as the Oedipus complex, trauma, countertransference dreams, the analytic setting, aspects of Bion’s work, and autistic spectrum disorders in children. His paper, “The Capacity to Tell a Joke: Reflections from Work with Asperger’s Children,” was published in the IJP in 2016.
Howard L. Levine
Howard B. Levine, is a member of the Contemporary Freudian Society and the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England, East (PINE). He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the IPA, on the editorial Board of the IJP and Psychoanalytic Inquiry and in private practice in Brookline, Massachusetts. He has authored many articles, book chapters, and reviews on psychoanalytic process and technique, intersubjectivity, the treatment of primitive personality disorders, and the consequences and treatment of early trauma and childhood sexual abuse. He is the editor of Adult Analysis and Childhood Sexual Abuse (Analytic Press 1990), co-editor (with Lawrence Brown) of Growth and Turbulence in the Container/Contained (Routledge, 2013), (with Gail Reed and Dominique Scarfone) of Unrepresented States and the Construction of Meaning (Karnac 2013,) (with Gail Reed) of Responses to Freud’s Screen Memories Paper (Karnac 2014), (with Giuseppe Civitarese) of The Wilfred Bion Tradition (Karnac 2015), (with Jose Junqueira de Mattos and Gisele Brito) of Bion in Brazil. Rodrigo Barahona
Rodrigo Barahona, Psya. D., is a psychoanalyst in private practice in Brookline, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England (PINE), and a faculty member of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. Dr. Barahona is an associate board member of The International Journal of Psychoanalysis, and a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytic Association.
Jack
Foehl
Jack Foehl is Training and Supervising Analyst at Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute and is Supervisor and Faculty Member at Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis and at Harvard Medical School. He is Clinical Associate Professor (Adjunct) at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Assistant Editor for Psychoanalytic Dialogues, and is an Editorial Board Member of The International Journal of Psychoanalysis. Jack did his undergraduate and doctoral work at Duquesne University, a center for existential phenomenological psychology and philosophy. Jack writes in the areas of phenomenology and psychoanalysis addressing issues of subjectivity, intersubjectivity, and psychoanalytic process in the analytic field, drawing from the traditions of Object Relations, Bion, Interpersonal and Relational psychoanalysis. He works in private practice in Brookline, MA.
